Egyptian and Cameroonian newspapers dished out praise for five-time champions Egypt who beat the Indomitable Lions 4-2 in their opening Group C game in Kumasi on Tuesday. Man of the day: Hosni Abd-Rabou was instrumental in Egypt's sensational 4-2 victory over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. The Ismaili midfielder capped an all-round performance with two goals, one of which was a spectacular trade-mark drive from distance, he was like a demon for the Cameroonians with his presence everywhere on the pitch. He missed Egypt's 2006 African triumph with injury, but Hassan Shehata was fortunate to have his midfield marvel back in Ghana. Abd-Rabou's case has been center of speculation in Egypt throughout last year, after the 24-year-old signed a contract to join champions Ahli from Strasbourg, but he then expressed his desire to stay with Ismaili, where he used to play on loan. The case has been raised to FIFA, and the world governing body will give a final decision on Abd-Rabou's destination next month. Goal of the day: Mohamed Zidan must surely win this one after his wonder goal on Tuesday, a true contender for goal of the tournament. The Egyptian 'Zidane' showed great skill controlling the ball with his chest before unleashing an unstoppable left-foot shot into the roof of the net, to beat Carlos Kameni with his second of the game and Egypt's third. Eto'o double not enough Moment of the day: Zidan's celebration was not less extraordinary than his superb double, the Hamburg forward invented another hilarious celebration after Soufiane Alloudi's on Monday. The embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Zambia disappointed Arabs after Morocco and Egypt recorded two thumping victories. The Sudanese have to watch out as their next two ties will be a lot tougher! What the Papers Said Egypt's leading newspaper, Al Ahram posted the headline "Egypt beat Cameroon 4-2 as they commence title defense". The paper hailed coach Hassan Shehata, noting that he "took control of the game and made some deft tactical changes." Al Akhbar also labeled the Egyptian victory as "historic" and "well executed both tactically and creatively." Two-goal hero Mohamed Zidan was singled out for praise and referred to as the "spectacular star Zidan." However, the catchiest headline of all was that of Al Masry Al Youm which read: "The Pharaohs left the Lions toothless." In addition to flattering the Egyptians, French sports daily Camfoot also acknowledged their inspirational striker Samuel Eto'o who netted two second half goals to close in on the CAN goal-record of 14 goals. * تعليقات:0 * طباعة * ارسل الى صديق * شارك * Share
