Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) and the Senegalese Pharmaceutical Regulatory Authority (ARP) signed an MoU to enhance African pharmaceutical sector cooperation through unified standards, streamlined procedures, mutual recognition, and technical exchange, the Cabinet has said. The agreement was signed by Ali El-Ghamrawy, chairman of the EDA, and Alioune Ibnou Abou Talib, head of ARP, reflecting Egypt's growing leadership in building a continent-wide pharmaceutical integration model. El-Ghamrawy stated that the MoU embodies the EDA's strategic vision to deepen regulatory collaboration with African sister nations, to achieve pharmaceutical security across the continent and localise medicine manufacturing. He further stated that the authority is working towards an integrated African regulatory system grounded in scientific standards, transparency, and mutual recognition, the statement added. El-Ghamrawy highlighted that the agreement is a significant step in boosting Egypt's regulatory standing in Africa. The EDA aims to support pharmaceutical integration through partnerships, expertise transfer, and policies promoting public health and sustainable pharmaceutical development in Africa. Talib praised the EDA's progress and described it as a leading African reference in regulatory capacity-building and sustainable oversight systems. He affirmed that the memorandum would open new prospects for technical cooperation between Egypt and Senegal in ways that serve the interests of both peoples.
