Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, representing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, urged African and European leaders on Monday to forge a partnership rooted in mutual respect and shared interests, highlighting the interconnected nature of security on both continents. "Successive crises on our continent have proven that African security is also European security." Madbouly said at the 7th African Union –European Union Summit, which took place in Luanda, Angola He emphasised that peace, stability, and development are inseparable and called for comprehensive investments in infrastructure, education, health, youth and women's empowerment, and post-conflict reconstruction. Madbouly cited Egypt's role in regional stability, including mediating the Gaza ceasefire, supporting a political solution in Libya, efforts to resolve the crisis in Sudan, funding for the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), safeguarding Red Sea maritime security, and counterterrorism initiatives in the Sahel. He condemned recent violations in Sudan's El-Fashir and warned against unilateral actions in the Horn of Africa and Red Sea that could destabilise the region. The prime minister concluded by highlighting Egypt's readiness to expand trilateral African-European cooperation, leveraging institutions such as the Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution (CCCPA), the NEPAD Climate Adaptation Center, and the African Space Agency, which is hosted in Cairo. The summit, held 24–25 Nov. in Luanda, brought together leaders from Africa and Europe to strengthen ties, address security challenges, and promote sustainable development aligned with Africa's Agenda 2063.
