The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) received over 12,000 visitors from Egypt and abroad throughout early morning until 14:00 p.m. local time on Monday, its seventh straight day of strong public turnout since opening to the public on 4 Nov. According to Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the museum, visitor traffic has been smooth, with Sunday, 9 Nov. alone seeing around 17,000 people, and the average daily attendance since the museum's launch reaching 19,000 visitors, the tourism ministry said in a statement. The surge reflects strong local and international interest across all age groups and nationalities. "The growing international attention underscores the museum's status as a premier cultural and tourist destination, and we remain committed to providing an exceptional experience for every visitor," Ghoneim said. The museum was officially inaugurated by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on 1 Nov. during a global ceremony attended by 79 official delegations, including 39 led by kings, princes, and heads of state. Its public opening coincided with the 100th anniversary of the discovery of King Tutankhamun's tomb. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
