Egypt's Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy mediated a breakthrough agreement on Monday between the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the Union of African Sports Confederations (UCSA), ending a long-standing dispute between the continent's two main sports organisations. The ministry said the accord reflects Egypt's commitment to strengthening unity and stability within Africa's sports system as the country prepares to host the 2027 African Games. Sobhy said Egypt is determined to foster cooperation and integration among African sports institutions, adding that the upcoming Games will "embody a spirit of African solidarity and shared success under one vision." Attendees hailed Egypt's pivotal role in reconciling the two bodies and aligning their efforts to advance African sport, describing the initiative as further evidence of Egypt's regional leadership and commitment to continental collaboration.
