Egypt's Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA) signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabia's Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission (NRRC) on Tuesday to enhance collaboration in nuclear and radiation safety, the Egyptian agency said. The agreement was signed by ENRRA Chairman Hany Khodr and NRRC Chairman Khalid Al-Essa on the sidelines of the International Conference on Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies (EPR2025), hosted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Riyadh from 1-4 Dec., 2025. The MoU aims to boost joint efforts in nuclear safety, radiation protection, and security measures, primarily through the exchange of technical expertise and knowledge between the two authorities. Key areas of cooperation include radiation laboratories and analysis, the safe transport of radioactive materials, and preparedness for nuclear and radiological emergencies. The agreement reflects the strategic partnership and longstanding ties between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and highlights both agencies' advanced capabilities to enhance nuclear and radiological safety standards.
