Mido and His Big Mouth
Published in FilGoal on 02 - 10 - 2006

Following the surprise summer move of Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' from AS Roma to Tottenham, Egyptian fans were delighted to see the striker secure a place at the club he succeeded with while on loan from January 2005.
After scoring 14 goals in 18 months for Tottenham and helping the club to fifth spot in the Premiership, Mido seemed to have finally settled in a club after aimlessly hovering over five European leagues over the past six seasons.
However, prior to his team's league game against Portsmouth on Sunday, the 23-year-old striker came out and hit us with one of his usual childish unprofessional acts, stating that former Tottenham, Arsenal, England and current Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell is no more than a mediocre player and is one of the easiest defenders to play against.
Why on earth would any player say that about a fellow professional? We see superstar players in the caliber of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Andriy Shevchenko, Ronaldo and many others who never underestimated the capabilities of any fellow professional player before.

And since when did Campbell, a two-time Premiership winner with Arsenal who played 40 times for England become an easy defender to play against?
And since when did Campbell, a two-time Premiership winner with Arsenal who played 40 times for England become an easy defender to play against?
It is true Campbell is 32 years old now and isn't the same defender who joined Arsenal in 2001, but he sure has a load of experience and showed how resilient he still is by helping Portsmouth to fifth place in the Premiership so far.
What Mido said was totally irresponsible, he was condemned by his manager and it cost him a place against Portsmouth, the young Egyptian striker should definitely start behaving like a true professional and focus on his game rather than firing stupid statements.
