The G20 meeting began in Cairo on Monday, marking the first official session to be held outside the group's member states. The gathering was attended by Egypt's Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk and Ambassador Raji El-Etreby, the personal representative of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to the G20 and Assistant Foreign Minister. The event reflects Egypt's distinguished participation as a guest country in the group's meetings this year, its third in a row and fifth overall. It also underscores Egypt's regional weight, its contribution to addressing key global issues, and its efforts to advance multilateral negotiations that consider the concerns of developing countries, especially in Africa, and amplify their voice internationally. The three-day meeting is held in coordination with South Africa's presidency of the G20 this year to discuss the growing challenge of food security and its multiple dimensions.
