He underscored the rightful demand of African countries for fair and balanced representation within global economic decision-making bodies. G20 Participation Abdel-Aty emphasised the importance of Africa's participation in G20 meetings as a key opportunity to advance the continent's strategic interests, particularly regarding reforming the global financial architecture, addressing the debt crisis, and ensuring equitable access to financing. He noted that the African Union's admission as a permanent member of the G20 from 2023 marked a historic step reflecting Africa's growing international stature. He added that South Africa's current G20 presidency offers a unique chance to amplify the voice of developing nations, especially African countries, and to secure the continent's priorities within the group's agenda and outcomes. Abdel-Aty reaffirmed Egypt's full support for South Africa's G20 presidency and its workstreams. The minister concluded by underscoring the need for Africa to attain its deserved status as a key and influential actor in global decision-making, enabling it to contribute effectively to shaping the new international order through enhanced representation in global institutions and broader participation in governance and policy-making processes.
