Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty has praised the historical and fraternal relations between Egypt and Tanzania, stressing Egypt's keen interest in enhancing cooperation across various fields. He commended the significant progress achieved since President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to Tanzania in August 2017 and the subsequent third session of the joint committee in Cairo in January 2018, which resulted in signing memoranda of understanding in diplomatic training, agriculture, and tourism. He also expressed eagerness to hold the fourth session of the joint committee. During talks on Wednesday with Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Abdel Aty highlighted the growing interest of Egyptian business leaders and investors in the Tanzanian market in recent years. This was reflected in multiple Egyptian economic, investment, and trade delegations visiting Tanzania, as well as the increasing number and diversity of Egyptian companies operating there. He noted that Egyptian investments in Tanzania have reached approximately $1.36 billion. He expressed hope for further expansion in infrastructure and national projects, along with cooperation in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries. He also reaffirmed Egypt's readiness to provide technical support to Tanzania through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development. Abdel Aty emphasised Egypt's priority in implementing the Julius Nyerere Dam project, describing it as a model for African cooperation in hydropower dam projects. He noted that construction work on the dam is now 99.9 per cent complete and reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting development in the Nile Basin.
