Country: Cameroon City: Garoua Ground: Stade Omnisport de Garoua Nickname: Les Cotonniers (The Cottoners) Official website: http://www.cotonsportfc.com/ Honors: 11 Cameroon Premier League, 5 Cameroon Cup A background Cotonsport was founded in 1986 following the demotion of Garoua's main team Shooting Star to the second division. The club endured a difficult time at the start as it was not until 1992 when they managed to pull off top-flight promotion. Coton were then able to notably redeem themselves and just needed four years to dominate the Cameroonian football scene as the 1998 league title paved the way for 10 more trophies, including six in a row in the 2000's. Their biggest feat on continental front, however, was just finishing runners-up to eventual winners Ahli in the 2008 Champions League. Man to watch: Yougouda Kada Only 18, Yougouda Kada is currently the Champions League joint top-goalscorer with six, including two decisive goals in the group stage. The attacking midfielder is a product of Cotonsport's youth setup, where he made his first team debut in 2011. Being a regular in Cameroon's U-17 and U-20 national squads, Kada is now regarded as a hot future prospect, with a first-team call-up to the Indomitable Lions looming. Manager: Sébastien Desabre Desabre is a 37-year-old French boss who kicked off his managerial career in his homeland in 2006, taking the helm of Cannet-Rocheville. He remained in charge of the French club before being appointed as Ivorian giants ASEC's boss in October 2010, in what could be his real coaching experience. Desabre then guided the team to the 2011 Ivorian cup title, but failed to lead them beyond the season's Champions League quarter finals. He eventually left in 2011 to take over at Cotonsport in October the following year.
