Egypt's Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar discussed prospects for health cooperation with the nominee for ambassador to Sweden and Latvia, the Cabinet said in a statement on Tuesday. Abdel Ghaffar affirmed the ministry's full support for enhancing bilateral relations and broadening health cooperation. Talks covered opportunities in pharmaceuticals and drug manufacturing, the development of Egypt's healthcare system, and bringing in international experts for technical support and consultancy. The meeting also addressed potential Swedish funding, partnership in the Heliopolis Hospital project, training Egyptian medical staff in Sweden across specialties, and exporting pharmaceuticals to Latvia. They also reviewed existing agreements with Sweden and Latvia to assess their relevance to current needs, and considered new ones to support Egypt's health sector, according to the announcement. Plans were also made to arrange meetings with government representatives and medical supply companies, conduct site visits to hospitals in both countries, and identify potential companies for cooperation.
