Egypt's Ministry of Environment has issued new regulations governing the licensing of activities related to the handling of used cooking oils as part of efforts to tighten control over waste management, the Egyptian Cabinet reported on Thursday. The decision, approved by the Cabinet and the Waste Management Regulatory Authority (WMRA), sets conditions for companies involved in the collection, transport, storage, or export of used oils. Licences will only be granted to companies with the necessary tools and infrastructure, and they must work exclusively with authorised recycling factories. The ministry urged citizens to dispose of used oils through licensed collectors to ensure safe handling. Licensed factories must also maintain tracking records of all received quantities to support regulatory oversight. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
