Egypt and Namibia are looking to strengthen cooperation in pharmaceutical regulation and capacity building, the Egyptian Cabinet said Thursday following a meeting between the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) and Namibia's Ambassador to Egypt, Vilio Hifindaka. EDA Chairman Ali El-Ghamrawy and Ambassador Hifindaka discussed potential collaboration with Namibia's Medicines Control Council (NMRC), focusing on regulatory expertise exchange, technical support, and mechanisms to ensure the quality and efficacy of medicines in both countries. El-Ghamrawy reaffirmed the EDA's commitment to deepening ties with African nations and supporting regulatory development through training, consultancy, and knowledge sharing. He said Egypt is ready to offer technical assistance to bolster regional access to safe, high-quality pharmaceuticals aligned with international standards. Ambassador Hifindaka welcomed Egypt's leadership in pharmaceutical regulation and expressed Namibia's interest in closer cooperation on information exchange, policy development, and institutional strengthening. Both sides highlighted the importance of continued coordination and institutional collaboration to address challenges in the sector and improve medicine quality across African markets.
