Egypt and Sweden are seeking to deepen cooperation in healthcare investment and humanitarian assistance, with a focus on supporting injured Palestinians, Egypt's Cabinet said Wednesday. Egyptian Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Sweden's Minister for International Development Cooperation, Benjamin Dousa in Cairo to discuss opportunities for bilateral collaboration in pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and healthcare infrastructure. The talks highlighted Egypt's efforts to treat injured Palestinians in hospitals across the country and deliver humanitarian aid via the Rafah border crossing. Both sides discussed expanding cooperation in the provision of medical services and humanitarian relief. The meeting also covered regulatory alignment in pharmaceutical registration and intellectual property protection. The Swedish delegation expressed interest in Egypt's pharmaceutical sector, noting its growing significance in regional markets. Further discussions included technology exchange in medical equipment manufacturing, the development of eco-friendly "green hospitals," and expanding public-private partnerships to improve healthcare infrastructure. Both ministers explored joint initiatives in training and capacity-building, including the exchange of medical expertise. Egypt also expressed interest in Sweden's advanced road safety programmes aimed at reducing injury and mortality rates.
