Yesterday the Mansoura Chest Hospital held 15 residents on suspicion of having bird flu and other samples were sent to the Ministry of Health laboratories. This brings the number of cases that entered the hospital, since the beginning of the week, to 86 cases. Dr. Ahmed Abu al-Kheir, head of the Office of Health in Meet Mohsen in Meet Ghamr, reported the escape of Al-Saad Al-Hifnawy, the father of the girl Menatallah, 11, who wassuspected of being infected with bird flu. It was a surprise that when she was being transferred to Mansoura Chest Hospital she escaped with her father from the Office of Health.
In Al-Gharbiya the hospitals of Tanta Fevers and Mahallah Fevers held seven patients on suspicion of illness, four of whom are in Mahallah Fevers: Ibrahim Ramzi Abdel Azim Salim, 2, Al-Sayed Saeed Abdul Samee, 27, Attiyat Abdel Fattah, 27, and Mona Ismail Abdel-Latif Fouda, 17. Tanta Fevers detained Mohamed Alarabi Al Sayed Alarabi, 4, Mostafa Mohamed Abdel Fattah, 21, and Amal Adel Abulhasan, 18 years. In ElBeihera Dr. Yosri Mabrouk, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Health, detained five on suspicion of having bird flu. He said this pointing to two in the Alexandria Fevers Hospital, Shaaban Abdel-Rahim Said, 6, and Mahmoud Saad Mahmoud, 48, and explained that three were being detained in Damanhour Fevers Hospital. In Kafr El-Sheikh Dr. Susan Abbasi, Director of the Fever Hospital, announced the detention of two; their samples are being sent to the central labs in the Ministry of Health.
In Damietta 6,910 birds were killed and 607 nests have been removed, as well as the execution of 257 migrant birds. The bodies of the birds were buried under the supervision of the environmental authorities. Dr. Mohamed Fathi El Baradei, the governor, warned the heads of cities to take strict measures against birds and to transport them by default if killing them was not possible in order to complete the implementation of campaigns against avian influenza. In Qena, Dr Mahmoud Rushdie, director of Veterinary Medicine said that 479 birds were killed and 15 nests were removed including the closure of shops that sell live birds. In Suez Dr. Adel Abbas, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Veterinary Medicine, confirmed the execution of 450 birds and 2 in the areas of Salam, Tawfikiya and Yosr in the Ataqa district.
