Amr Zaki seeks to terminate deal with cash-strapped Zamalek
Amr Zaki, enraged by Zamalek's failure to hand him his overdue payments, says he seeks to leave the club

Disgruntled striker Amr Zaki gave Zamalek a fresh headache after revealing on Tuesday that he had filed a request to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to terminate his deal with the cash-strapped Cairo giants.
“Zamalek owe me 970,000 LE from last season. The club did not also cover the expenses of the surgery I underwent following my injury,” said Zaki, who made an impressive start to the season.
“They also declined to give me my money this season.”
Zamalek, who are blighted by constant administrative instability, are suffering from dire financial woes that prompted several players to threaten to depart.
Qatari winger Hussein Yasser had already left Zamalek in the close season, joining Belgian Egyptian-owned side Lierse without the consent of the club.
Right-back Hazem Emam has also given Zamalek a five-day ultimatum to fulfill their financial obligations. “Otherwise, I will go to the EFA to cancel my deal,” he said earlier this week.
Zamalek can hardly afford to lose Zaki, given his goal-scoring prowess which saw him notch three goals in the first five Egyptian Premier League games.
He is the only reliable frontman at the disposal of coach Hassan Shehata, with the likes of Ahmed Gaafar and Hussein Hamdy failing to win over the fans.
Mido, who still looks over-weight, is finding it hard to recapture old form while new signing Razak Omotoyossi has yet to make an impact.
“Zamalek are not suffering from financial troubles because they bought in new players in the summer,” an angry Zaki added.
“I will remain a professional player. I will attend training normally until the EFA decide my fate.”
