Egypt's Acting Minister of Environment Manal Awad departed for Abu Dhabi on Wednesday to represent President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the World Conservation Congress, organised by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) from Oct. 9–15. Awad said the conference provides a key platform to accelerate environmental action, promote scientific collaboration, and develop innovative nature-based solutions to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss. She noted that the event brings together world leaders, international organisations, and private sector representatives to shape "a new phase of transformative environmental solutions built on innovation, shared vision, and ambitious leadership." The minister will take part in the Marine Conservation in Gulf of Aqaba: West Asia example & potential catalyst for regional collaboration Panel. She will also highlight Egypt's ENACT Initiative, launched in partnership with Germany and IUCN during COP27, as a successful model for climate and biodiversity cooperation. On the sidelines of the summit, Awad will meet with Grethel AGUILAR ROJAS, Director-General of IUCN, and several ministers to discuss Egypt's regional leadership in nature conservation and environmental diplomacy. "Egypt's participation in this global forum reaffirms its commitment to shaping the future of environmental policy and advancing sustainable, climate-resilient development," Awad said.
