Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said he was delighted with his young team's 5-2 win over Fenerbahce in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. Wenger earlier said that Istanbul was one of the toughest places to play in Europe, but after the game the Frenchman was glad with his players' reaction to the Fener fans. "I am very proud of the team. The average age was 23 and I am proud because we came in and tried to dictate the game in a very heated atmosphere," Wenger said after the game. "It is very pleasing that they seemed to play with no fear. I am pleased to see it works." Despite the big win, Wenger stressed that the game was not a walk in the park for the Gunners. "Both teams were going forward 100 %, but the fact we scored an early goal forced Fenerbahce to come out and we caught them many times on the counter-attack." "Our pace, movement and technique made the difference and allowed us to take advantage of it but it was not an easy game," concluded Wenger.
