Mohamed Zidan will be given time to prove his worth after fulfilling international duty in the African Cup of Nations, Hamburg sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer said. The Egyptian forward failed to impress since joining Hamburg from Mainz in the close season. He was even linked with a move away from Hamburg but club officials consistently refuted such claims. They are now backing Zidan to replicate the huge impact he made with Mainz last season. "Zidan has some adaptation problems. He will be given chance to regain his form once he returns from Ghana," Beiersdorfer was quoted as saying by Kicker on Thursday. "New players always need time to adapt. (Peruvian striker) Paulo Guerrero is a good example, he needed one year to produce good displays." Zidan is set to fly to Ghana on Thursday along with his Egypt teammates as the Pharaohs begin their quest for a second successive CAN title.
