Spanish outfit Real Madrid named former boss Benito Floro as the new football director replacing Arrigo Sacchi who quit his post on December sixth, only one year after joining the La Liga giants. "Floro is the ideal man to take on this responsibility," Real vice-president Emilio Butragueno was quoted as saying on Real's official website on Friday. "He is a student of football, methodical in his approach, familiar with Real Madrid and we have no doubt that this is the right decision for the club," he added. The 53-year-old Spaniard had coached Real between 1992 and 1994 and will work alongside newly-appointed coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro, who came in as a replacement for Vanderlei Luxemburgo who was sacked earlier this month. Floro, who coached Real Mallorca in July 2004, pledged to revamp the entire team and help them regain their position in the Spanish league after sinking down to lie in fifth place, 11 points behind league leaders and arch-rivals Barcelona. "My intention is to try to establish a common style of play, a common identity and sentiment right through the club in order to achieve positive results," said Floro.
