Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez played down any speculations about a skipper Steven Gerrard move to Real Madrid in the summer. "The situation is very clear, Gerrard is not for sale. I don't want to waste my time talking about it," Benitez was quoted as saying by BBC Sport on Thursday. Reports by Spanish media claimed on Wednesday that the England international might be on his way to the Bernabeu after head coach Benito Floro forwarded a short-list of players needed by the club by next summer to club president Fernando Martin with Gerrard's name a top-priority name. Nevertheless, Benitez denied the reports and insisted that Gerrard was not available for sale to Real or any other club. After leading Liverpool to their fifth UEFA Champions League cup last May, Gerrard signed a new contract tying him to the Mersyside club until 2009.
