Real Madrid are interested to add veteran Spanish midfielder Josep Sala Guardiola to their squad in January, club vice president Emilio Butragueno said on Wednesday. "We miss a leader in the midfield. Guardiola can play this role and he will combine with Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and Guti to put on great performance," Butragueno told Spanish paper AS. The 35-year-old midfielder, who has played for Barcelona and AS Roma, said he will make join the capital-based side if he received an official offer. Real president Florentino Perez backed the move and said he believes Guardiola will retire football as a Real player.
