Egypt center-half Ahmed Hegazi has been overlooked by Fiorentina for this season's Europa League squad. Manager Vincenzo Montella named a 21-man squad for Europe's second club competition, omitting Hegazi for unknown reasons. Even though he is currently nursing a knee injury, the 22-year-old defender was expected to be fit by next week as previously announced by his club. Hegazi, who was recently recalled by Egypt for the World Cup qualifier against Guinea on September 10, missed Fiorentina's opening two games of the season so far. The Florence club begin their Europa League campaign against Pacos Ferreira of Portugal on the 19th of this month, a few days after taking on Cagliari in the Serie A.
