The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed lower on Wednesday, with benchmark indices posting broad-based losses amid selling pressure from local and Arab investors, exchange data showed. The main EGX30 index declined 0.66 per cent to close at 33,859.68 points, while the Shariah-compliant EGX33 index dropped 0.60 per cent to 3,459.68 points. The EGX70 index, which tracks small and mid-cap stocks, fell 1.01 per cent to 10,094.23 points, and the broader EGX100 index slid 1.09 per cent to 13,626.7 points. Market capitalisation stood at 2.38 trillion Egyptian pounds. Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers by 2.07 billion pounds and 82.87 million pounds, respectively, while non-Arab foreign investors were net buyers with a total of 2.158 billion pounds.
