Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, conducted a surprise visit to the National Advanced Transmission and Automation control center (NATA) on Wednesday to check on gas flows to power plants and other consumption sectors amid high temperatures. The visit came as part of ongoing follow-up on the implementation of the summer gas supply plan. Badawi confirmed the regularity of gas flows to various sectors, led by the electricity sector, during the current heatwave and increased natural gas demand. The minister reviewed the network's full readiness to handle any emergencies and received a detailed briefing from GASCO Chairman Yasser Salah Eldin on operational preparedness and scenarios for immediate response to any consumption surges. He also monitored the stability of gas supplies from floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs), ensuring the continued stability of the national gas network. Badawi emphasised the importance of ongoing proactive measures and coordination with the electricity sector to secure citizens' needs, and expressed his appreciation to the control centre staff and petroleum sector teams for their efforts in implementing pre-summer plans to secure the gas supply system.
