Runoff elections' race on individual seats
Electoral competition continues among parties and independents

Runoff elections are scheduled to take place on 1 and 2 December, after the Supreme Electoral Commission (SEC) announced results for 13 governorates of second phase elections which took place on 21, 22 and 23 November.
Egyptians abroad will vote in this second round on 30 November and 1 December. Their participation in parliamentary elections increased by 21% from first phase elections held in October, as nearly 37,000 Egyptians abroad casted their votes.
For local voters, electoral turnout slightly increased but remained at an average turnout of 28%, with nearly 8 million voters. ‘For the Love of Egypt' electoral list won all 60 parliamentary seats elected through a closed-list system.
Now, competition remains interesting between political party candidates and independents on independent seats. Only nine candidates made it through in the first round and a remaining 213 run-off seats are yet to be elected.
The winners include well-known figure Samir Ghattas, head of the Middle East Forum for Strategic Studies for the Nasr City constituency in Cairo and famous film director Khaled Youssef in Kafr El-Sheikh.
One of the constituencies with big names also in Cairo is the Nozha/Heliopolis constituency. Participation turnout for the electoral district was 95% with 4% voided votes. Politician Zein Sadat is competing as an independent candidate against renowned writer Fatima Naoot.
The Free Egyptians Party (FEP) has the largest number of candidates entering a second round. 52 candidates include two women are divided as following: 18 in Cairo, three in Kafr El-Sheikh, two in Suez, five in Qaliubiya, four in Daqahleya, six in Menufiya, eight in Gharbeya, one in Damietta, five in Sharqeya.
Al-Wafd Party's candidate Talaat El-Seweedy won a seat from the first round in Sharqeya. 43 candidates of the party made it to runoff elections as following: seven in Sharqeya, seven in Daqahleya, six in Gharbeya, six in Cairo, four in Menufiya and one in South Sinai.
Additionally, the party has four other candidates in some constituencies where the court required elections to start over, like one in Damanhour constituency in the governorate of Beheira, one in Al-Raml constituency in Alexandria, and two in the governorate of Beni Suef.
Al-Nour Party made it to the runoff elections on individual seats with eight candidates, but only in three governorates: four candidates in Kafr El-Sheikh, three candidates in Damietta, one in South Sinai,
Al-Nour Party has a few other candidates in the same constituencies where elections are being repeated, two candidates in Al-Raml constituency and party spokesperson Shaaban Abdul Alim in Beni Suef. Those elections are scheduled for 5 and 6 December.
