SANA'A: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced on Thursday in the presence of the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation that it would immediately contribute to the country's reconstruction by allocating $37 million towards the funding of several projects in the sectors of health, education and agriculture. Robert Wilson, USAID country director said his organization for very keen to support Yemen on its road towards democracy as well as promote good governance. Mohamed Assadi, the Minister of Planning said he was very pleased to see Yemen's economic partners step up and invest in the country's future as he stressed that only through a stable and vibrant economy could the nation move away from conflicts and terrorism. He assured his audience that both the US and Yemen would continue to strengthen their ties of friendship and collaboration. Moreover, Wilson revealed that the US Department of Agriculture was planning to invest and support Yemen's water harvesting techniques in the southern city of Taiz as well as underground water storage capacities in the capital, Sana'a.
