Egypt exported about 185,000 tons of food products in the week ending Sept. 26, led by sweet potatoes and pomegranates, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said on Sunday. The country shipped 3,860 consignments of nearly 675 products from 1,300 companies, including flour, grain-based goods, vegetables, fruits, molasses and other food items, the statement said. Vegetable exports totalled around 30,000 tons across 32 varieties, with sweet potatoes leading at 11,000 tons, followed by beans at 6,000 tons and potatoes at 4,000 tons. Fruit exports also stood at 30,000 tons across 35 varieties, led by pomegranates at 10,000 tons, mangoes at 8,000 tons and strawberries at 6,000 tons.
