Egypt exported roughly 165,000 tons of food products in the week ending Sept. 19, with sweet potatoes and mangoes topping outbound shipments, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said on Sunday. The country exported 3,610 shipments covering nearly 650 products from 1,333 companies, including vegetables, tubers, grains, fruits, molasses and other items, NFSA said in a statement. Sweet potatoes led vegetable exports with 12,000 tons, followed by beans and potatoes at 5,000 tons each. Total vegetable exports reached about 30,000 tons across 35 varieties. Pomegranates topped fruit exports at 8,000 tons, followed by mangoes at 6,000 tons and strawberries at 5,000 tons. Total fruit exports reached 22,000 tons across 30 varieties, the authority said.
