Egypt exported 155,000 tonnes of food products in the week ending Sept. 5, with sweet potatoes and mangoes topping shipments of vegetables and fruits, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said Sunday. The NFSA said 3,135 consignments were cleared for export by 1,150 companies during the week, covering nearly 650 product categories including flour, grains, tubers, molasses, fruits, and processed foods. Sweet potatoes led vegetable exports at 6,000 tons, followed by beans at 5,000 tons and potatoes at 4,000 tons. Mangoes dominated fruit exports at 7,000 tons, ahead of strawberries at 6,000 tons and pomegranates at 5,000 tons. The shipments went to 177 countries, with Somalia, the Sudan, Spain, and Libya among the top destinations, the authority added. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
