Egypt exported 183,000 tons of food products in the week ending August 29, 2025, with sweet potatoes and mangoes topping the list of outbound shipments, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) reported on Sunday. A total of 3,740 consignments were exported by 1,285 companies, covering 680 categories of molasses, vegetables, fruits, flour, and processed food items. Vegetable exports reached 42,000 tons, with sweet potatoes leading the pack at 12,000 tons, followed by beans at 10,000 tons, and potatoes at 6,000 tons each. Fruit exports totalled 25,000 tons, with mangoes and strawberries being the top performers at 7,000 tons each, followed by pomegranates at approximately 4,000 tons, the statement added. Turkey, Lebanon, Sudan, and Saudi Arabia were among the top destinations for Egyptian food exports, which reached a total of 180 importing countries during the week, as per the report.
