Egypt exported 180,000 tons of food products last week, through 3,430 consignments shipped by 1,270 companies, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said in a weekly report. The shipments, which included nearly 675 varieties of food, were sent to 183 countries between Aug. 16 and 22, the authority said Sunday. Sweet potatoes led vegetable exports with 8,000 tons, followed by mixed vegetables at 5,000 tons, and onions at 4,000 tons, for a total of 30,000 tons across 42 types of vegetables. Among fruits, strawberries and mangoes topped the list with 8,000 tons each, followed by pomegranates at 5,000 tons, for a combined 25,000 tons across 30 varieties.
