Egypt exports 166,000 tons of food in one week

Egypt's food exports soared during the week ending September 6th, with a total of 3,774 shipments weighing approximately 166,000 tons. These exports were sent to 144 countries by 1,422 exporting companies, according to the National Food Safety Authority's (NFSA) weekly report on Sunday.
This impressive figure reflects a wide variety of 532 products, including flour, vegetables, and various food items.
Egypt's vegetable export portfolio boasted 58 different varieties, with a total volume of around 37,000 tons. Sweet potatoes topped the list of vegetable exports with 13,000 tons, followed by beans at 12,000 tons, and onions at 7,000 tons
Meanwhile, the country's fruits export portfolio boasted 56 different varieties, with a total volume of around 30,000 tons. Mangoes led the fruit exports with 13,000 tons, followed by pomegranates at 10,000 tons, and strawberries at 5,000 tons.
Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Libya, and Jordan were the biggest recipients of Egyptian exports last week, out of 144 countries in total.
On the import side, 2,180 food shipments totalling around 490,000 tons were received by 900 companies, featuring 183 varieties of wheat, raw sugar, and various oils from 87 countries.
Russia was the largest exporter to Egypt, followed by Ukraine, Brazil, and Bulgaria.
