Egypt approved 776,379 state-funded medical treatment decisions worth 6.364 billion Egyptian pounds during July and August under the presidential 100 Days of Health Initiative, the Cabinet said on Thursday. The approvals covered oncology, liver and kidney diseases, cardiology, orthopaedics, neurology, and bone marrow transplants, benefiting more than 736,543 patients, according to the statement. The programme was carried out through Health Ministry hospitals, in cooperation with university hospitals, the Armed Forces, police, and private and charitable providers to support vulnerable groups. The ministry also conducted 1,509 consultations via video conference to allow patients to access services without travelling to specialised medical councils. In the same period, medical checks were provided for 60,173 citizens applying for the Integrated Services Card for people with special needs, 49,686 applicants to the Takaful and Karama social safety net programme, and 5,920 citizens seeking tax-exempt cars for people with disabilities.
