Egypt's ministry of health approved a total of 776,379 treatment-at-state-expense decisions worth 6.364 billion Egyptian pounds during July and August under the government's 100 Days of Health Initiative, it said on Wednesday. The measures covered 736,543 patients across multiple specialities including oncology, cardiology, orthopaedics, neurology, liver and kidney diseases, and bone marrow transplantation. Services were provided through Health Ministry hospitals in cooperation with university, armed forces, police, private and charitable hospitals. Mohamed Abdel Hakim, head of the Central Administration for Therapeutic Medicine, said the ministry also carried out medical examinations for 60,173 applicants for the Integrated Services Card for people with disabilities to support social inclusion. An additional 49,686 applicants for the Takaful and Karama cash transfer programme and 5,920 citizens applying for tax-exempt specially equipped vehicles were also examined, the ministry said.
