Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty has reiterated Egypt's full rejection of proposals to establish tent cities in southern Gaza or implement any demographic changes in the occupied Palestinian territories. In a phone call with US Presidential Envoy for the Middle East Steve Wietkoff, Abdel-Aty reviewed Egypt's ongoing efforts to reach and sustain a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He emphasised that any deal must include the release of hostages and detainees in exchange for an immediate and unobstructed flow of sufficient humanitarian aid into Gaza, in light of the catastrophic situation in the enclave. Abdel-Aty also highlighted Egypt's proposal to host an international conference focused on early recovery and reconstruction efforts once a ceasefire is achieved. The initiative aims to launch Gaza's reconstruction in line with the Arab-Islamic plan. Wietkoff praised Egypt's efforts under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to promote regional security and stability, describing the country as a key US partner. The Egyptian foreign minister also held separate discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Wietkoff, and International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi. Abdel-Aty stressed the importance of advancing peaceful solutions and resuming negotiations on Iran's nuclear programme, reaffirming Egypt's conviction that there are no military solutions to this issue or other regional crises. The calls also included exchanges on ways to de-escalate tensions, establish a full ceasefire between Iran and Israel, and prevent a renewed outbreak of hostilities while encouraging a return to political and peaceful tracks.
