Egypt's Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held a meeting with representatives from global pharmaceutical company Sandoz to discuss strengthening collaboration and reviewing the company's ongoing support for Egypt's healthcare system. The talks focused on the company's role in supporting presidential health initiatives, particularly those aimed at the early detection of obesity, anaemia, and stunting among schoolchildren, as well as cancer screening programmes. Abdel Ghaffar stressed the importance of continued public–private cooperation in advancing these national health campaigns. The meeting also highlighted Sandoz's longstanding presence in the Egyptian market, spanning over 70 years, and its localisation of more than 70 per cent of its products within the country. Notably, the company has entered a strategic partnership with Egyptian firm Sedico to locally manufacture six cancer treatments, including drugs for breast, prostate, colon, and cervical cancers. Abdel Ghaffar emphasised the need to maximise the use of Sandoz's capabilities and expertise to ensure greater availability of essential medicines, stabilise the pharmaceutical market, and strengthen Egypt's drug security.
