Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty on Sunday discussed regional developments with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, focusing on the Palestinian issue and the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. During a phone call, the two ministers reviewed ongoing efforts to resume a ceasefire in Gaza. Abdel-Aty also briefed his Saudi counterpart on Egypt's intensive contacts with all parties concerned to halt the fighting and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the enclave. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry described the relationship with Saudi Arabia as "brotherly and eternal," noting that the call reflected alignment and harmony between the two countries' stances, and a shared desire to deepen bilateral ties and seek political and diplomatic solutions to regional and global crises. The two sides also discussed the planned international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, which Egypt intends to host in coordination with the United Nations and the Palestinian government once a ceasefire is achieved. The ministers further exchanged views on efforts to stabilise the ceasefire between Iran and Israel and resume talks on Iran's nuclear programme, as part of wider efforts to ease tensions.
