No Inquisitions campaign will kick off its first event, by holding a conference at the Journalists Syndicate on Tuesday. The conference will include Egyptian artists, intellectuals and thinkers, to express their refusal to the crackdown on freedom of speech, and the usage of constitution's article that criminalizes contempt of religion to suppress thinkers and writers. The campaign will submit a petition to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, demanding him to protect the freedom of speech and abolishing the constitution's article No. 98. Al-Azhar institution had sued the TV anchor Islam el-Beheiry, and the state shut down his TV show "With Islam," following complaints of Al-Azhar against what they called "insulting the Islamic religion and the companions of Prophet Muhammad."
