Egypt to begin training camp for Georgia friendly Pharaohs squad will gather on Friday, six days before friendly with Georgia; most foreign-based players will not attend
Egypt will begin a closed training camp on Friday to prepare for their friendly with Georgia on 14 November. All Egypt-based players named in thesquadare ready to join the camp, according to the Egyptian Football Association website, but most players based overseas will not attend. Former Zamalek striker Sherif Ashraf, who was surprisingly called up by American manager Bob Bradley after saving his Finnish club Jaro from relegation to the second division, is the only foreign-based player who is currently in Egypt and will attend the camp. The Pharaohs will not play a competitive game until March, when they host Zimbabwe for a 2014 World Cup qualifier. The winners of three successive African Cup of Nations trophies, Egypt recently held a training camp in the UAE, during which they beat Congo 3-0 and lost against Tunisia 1-0 in friendly matches.
