Published in Daily News Egypt on 30 - 07 - 2025

Egypt's Minister of Health and Population and Deputy Prime Minister, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, took part in the "Huawei Cloud Summit for North Africa," joining government officials, international experts, and technology leaders to explore the future of cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) in critical sectors—most notably healthcare.
In his remarks, Abdel Ghaffar reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to harnessing modern technologies, including cloud solutions, to protect health data and drive digital transformation. He noted that upgrading health infrastructure and digitising services are key national priorities to achieve sustainable development.
Describing digital transformation as a cornerstone of healthcare reform, the minister highlighted the role of cloud infrastructure in boosting operational efficiency, expanding health coverage, and enabling the use of AI and data analytics for evidence-based decision-making, performance monitoring, and targeted resource allocation.
Abdel Ghaffar also emphasised the importance of secure transmission of medical data, underlining that safeguarding patient privacy is a national imperative. He called for robust information systems that ensure transparency and long-term sustainability, aligning with Egypt's strategy to build a fully integrated digital health ecosystem that delivers consistent, high-quality care.
The minister praised Huawei for providing advanced, internationally compliant data protection solutions, which he said strengthen healthcare institutions' confidence in adopting cloud technologies. He also stressed the need to equip young professionals with digital skills to sustain the transformation, commending Huawei's efforts in capacity building.
Harnessing AI and cloud solutions, Abdel Ghaffar added, enhances the quality of healthcare services and supports equitable distribution of medical resources. He concluded by describing the summit as a valuable forum for sharing insights on Africa's technological future, and highlighted Huawei's offerings as key tools to help the health sector address future challenges.
