Sabbahi: Elections will complete the revolution
Published in Youm7 on 10 - 12 - 2011

MENOUFIA, EGYPT: In the presence of 2,000 citizens from Al-Rawda village in Menoufia, the Democratic Alliance, which includes the Freedom and Justice and al-Karama parties, held a conference Saturday supporting Freedom and Justice Candidates in the first district of Menoufia.
Hamdeen Sabbahi, head of al-Karama party and presidential hopeful, said Egyptians are masters of democracy and civilization. He added that those that participated in the revolution did not reap its fruits for ten months.
He said that participation in the elections is necessary for the revolution to continue. A new regime could be established and the election of a civilian president would end the transitional period.
Sabbahi said that all Egyptians have full rights before the law, without discrimination.
He added that he participated in the conference to support the Democratic Alliance's list out of love for Egypt.
“We are people who learn from the previous generations,” he said concerning the alliance between the Muslim Brotherhood and the Nasserists.
He added that he is proud to belong to the Nasserist movement and that Nasserists and Islamists are partners in jail cells, squares, and the revolution.
“We should not forget that we overthrew the regime's head but its legs are still creeping, highlighting that the revolution has not been completed yet,” Sabbahi said. “The revolution will be completed when revolutionaries reach authority in a way that represents the people and fulfills their interests. After 10 months we still have the unemployed, the poor, and patients who can't pay their medical bills.”
He said that everybody has to know that with his vote, he participates in completing the revolution through honest elections.
Dr. Ashour Al-Halawany, Secretary-General of the Freedom and Justice Party, highlighted that Menoufia is able to atone for Thirty years of abuse to Egyptians.
Sabry Amer, a Freedom and Justice candidate, thanked Sabbahi for all his initiatives in the People's Assembly when the previous regime unfairly waived his and Ragab Abu Zeid's official immunity.
He said that the Democratic Alliance continues successfully. He added that we do not need parliamentarians who want to benefit from immunity.
