SHARKIYA, Egypt: Expected presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabbahi said he does not approve of the parliamentary election law but wants the presidential elections to be held as soon as possible. During a public conference in Sharqia, Sabbahi said Egypt's January 25 Revolution is not complete and will not be complete unless a new authority reaches power through elections. Sabbahi asked Egypt's ruling military council to issue an immediate decree announcing the date of the presidential elections. He said toppling Egypt's formerly ruling regime was a smaller effort, and that the bigger effort will be building a new state with a strong economy. Sabbahi said he seeks to build a new republic based on three ethics: building a democratic political regime, social justice and a fair share for each citizen from the state's wealth, and retaining Egypt's role in the region. Sabbahi said he will not abolish the Camp David accords unless the Egyptians ask for that. He said he will, however, stop exporting Egyptian gas to Israel. He added, "I won't seek to start a war against any state, but I'll end the siege on Gaza and establish a strategic triangle between three Islamic countries: Iran, Turkey and Egypt." Sabbahi also said he will run for presidency to empower the poor people in Egypt.
