CAIRO: The Islamic Alliance, which consists of the three Salafist parties Al-Nour, Al-Asaala, and Al-Fadila, the Islamic Group's Building and Development Party, and other Islamic parties, submitted two proportional representation (PR) Lists to contest Peoples' Assembly seats in Cairo. Meanwhile, the al-Nour and al-Asalah parties signed an agreement to fully coordinate in the parliamentary elections. The agreement came after the al-Asalah party withdrew from the Democratic Alliance, according to a statement by the al-Nour party. The Islamic Alliance will compete with the Muslim Brotherhood's political wing, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), said Mohammad Usri, member of the High Authority of the Al-Nour party. He added there is no coordination between the Islamic Alliance and the Freedom and Justice Party for the individual or PR list seats. The Islamic Alliance will finish nominating their parliamentary candidates to eventually cover 80 percent of constituencies, and nominate more than 70 women. Mohammad el-Beltagi, member of the FJP's executive council, said there should be coordination for individual seats between political parties, not only the Islamic ones, to compete with members of the former regime. Beltagi added that he called Hamdeen Sabbahi, founder of al-Karama party, who confirmed that the party is still in the Democratic Alliance. Arabic here Arabic here
