Egypt Olympic team striker Mohamed Salah admitted he cannot promise Basel's fans anything, yet he will spare no effort for the sake of the team. Salah, 19, sealed a move to the Swiss side from Arab Contractors in the early hours of Monday as both clubs agreed terms following prolonged negotiations. It is understood that the Egypt starlet joined Basel on a reported sum of €1million plus additional clauses regarding his future as heaped praise on the club's management and players. “The coaches and players welcomed my visit to Basel last March; I would not have found another club where I would have been treated so friendly. I immediately accepted to sign them during my trial,” Salah told FC Basel's official website. “I feel like it is a start of a dream for me. “I hope to shine at Basel to follow in the footsteps of my compatriots who had successful careers in Europe. “Without giving promises, the fans can expect a player who will work hard to get better and benefit the team.” Salah is regarded as a hot future prospect for Egypt, having excelled for the national team in the U-20 World Cup in Colombia last summer before establishing himself at the first team of late. He is regarded as a potential replacement for departing star man Xherdan Shaqiri who signed for Bayern Munich starting next season.
