Egypt full-back Ahmed Elmohamady is working hard to be ready for Sunderland's Premier League opener against Liverpool next month. "I am pleased with how things went for me overall although the result was not what we wanted," the 23-year-old said after the Black Cats' friendly defeat to Burnley. "I feel fitter now and will carry on working hard with the game against Liverpool just two weeks away. "We have to get as much as possible out of the friendlies as possible because the season is getting close. "Getting myself in the best condition possible is my priority. Although we didn't get the result we wanted we played well in parts and the pre-season is about getting used to things. "I am looking forward to the remaining two games we have now and hopefully we can get some good results before the season starts." Elmohamady made 38 appearances for Sunderland in his first season at the Stadium of Light, encouraging manager Steve Bruce to sign him a permanently from ENPPI.
