Police to investigate Drogba coin incident

British metropolitan police announced that an inquiry will be made regarding Didier Drogba's coin throwing incident in Chelsea's game against Burnley in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.
In the match where Chelsea eventually lost 5-4 on penalties, Drogba opened the scoring for The Blues and while celebrating, he was hit by a coin thrown from the Burnley fans.
The Ivorian reacted by throwing the coin back at the away fans and he was cautioned for his behavior. Now the police are investigating the matter.
"I can confirm we are investigating the incident," a metropolitan police spokesman was quoted as saying by Sky News.
"An inquiry is being conducted by the Football Unit at Fulham police station. No-one has been arrested."

From his side, the 30-year-old forward apologized to the Burnley faithful for his reaction.
"This is something I want to make clear. I tried to celebrate the goal and I received some things at me," Drogba said.
"The big mistake I did was to throw it back so if someone was hurt, I just want to apologize for it.
"It was an incident in the heat of the moment and I regret it. It was just a mistake and nothing more."
The Stamford Bridge club announced that they will be waiting for the referee's report before commenting on the issue.
