Masri chairman Sayed Metwalli has died at the age of 68 after a heart failure on Friday. Metwalli, who also owns Albanian club SK Tirana, had two spells in charge of the Port Said-based. He was first elected as Masri president in 1980 before leaving the club in 1997. Metwalli took charge of the team once again in 2001 and was set to remain in the presidential post until 2012. He had a deep affection for Masri, who heavily relied on his money to compete in the Egyptian League. "He was an angel," Masri coach Hossam Hassan, who broke down in tears after learning the news, told Modern Sport. "I worked at Masri for his sake. I feel that my father has died now." Metwalli was renowned for his controversial remarks, having threatened more than once to withdraw Masri from the Egyptian League. He used to complain of refereeing in Egypt's premier competition.
