Zamalek have released veteran duo Beshir Al-Tabie and Tarek Al-Sayed as they aim to reshuffle their squad for next season. After a fierce battle with arch-rivals Ahli, Zamalek signed combative defender Al-Tabie from Turkish side Rizespor in the summer of 2007. Many have expected the former Egyptian international to establish himself as a key player in the heart of Zamalek's defense. But Al-Tabie, who played for Zamalek in the early 2000s, was nowhere near his best. He was the culprit for several goals Zamalek leaked throughout the season, most notably Emad Meteb's strike in Ahli's 2-0 Cairo derby victory over the men in white. On the other hand, Al-Sayed's 11-year spell with Zamalek came to an end. The 29-year-old won with Zamalek a host of trophies, including three Egyptian League titles and one CAF Champions League.
Al-Sayed is also out of Zamalek plans Further Omissions Tamer Abdul-Hamid, Magdi Attwa, Ahmed Hossam, Khaled Saad and third-choice keeper Wael Zenga were also shown the door. Energetic midfielder Abdul-Hamid suffered a dip in form during the past two seasons. The former Egypt man played a pivotal role in Zamalek's continued successes in the early 2000s. Zamalek's attacking-minded approach at that time needed a special player to cover the gaps at the back. Abdul-Hamid successfully accomplished this task. Jordanian left-back Khaled Saad leaves Zamalek after just one season of joining from Faisali. His sluggish moves down the left didn't help him hold down a regular place in Zamalek's squad.
